Tony Griffin

Tony Griffin is a landscape and portrait painter, whose work is rooted in the Scottish colourist and wider European traditions. His travels occasionally lead him on that well trodden path to the Mediterranean sunshine.
Tony's portraits explore memory and nostalgia through paintings based on old black-and-white photographs. By reconstructing these images, he aims to celebrate the lives of ordinary people and highlight the significance of everyday existence.

Tony attended Ontario College of Art from 1994 - 1996, then Glasgow School of Art  where he graduated with a  BA (Hons) in 2001. He was Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year Semi Finalists in 2024.
