Fiona MacRae

Overview

Fiona MacRae graduated from the drawing and painting department of Glasgow School of Art in 2000. Since then, she has been a practising, full-time artist and has had many exhibitions in the UK and worldwide. She lives and works in Argyll.

Fiona states,"I must be part bower bird, lifelong collector of colours, pattern and shapes that catch my eye. My paintings are rarely preconceived - the seed is an abstract thumbnail sketch and from there I gather colour, objects to hand and then arrange them as I see fit. Subconsciously, they are a reflection of whatever environment I am in".

Fiona's paintings are table top still lifes, featuring objects from her domestic surroundings. Her work is influenced by flat winter island landscapes, both in colour and composition, such as greys of the sea and the  wet sand, and brown of wet earth.
