Albie Sinclair
Albie attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art from 1970 - 1974, gaining a Diploma in Drawing and Painting. From 1976 to 2007, Albie was a teacher of Art and Design.
He paints in oils, acrylics and watercolour and his subject matter includes landscapes, seascapes, boats and buildings.
His work has been exhibited at the RSA Open, RSA Annual, RSA Summer, RGI, Royal Marine Society of London, Paisley Arts Institute, Dundee 800 and the RSW William Gillies Landscape exhibitions.
Albie states "Most of my subject matter relates to the landscape. I also find boats and buildings interesting subjects and, since moving to Tayport, I paint some seascapes.
In most of my paintings I use six colours and white. I combine brushes and palette knives to give me a range of paint qualities and textures.
For landscapes, I like the low sunlight of late autumn, winter and early spring. I like bleached and weathered land, faded stubble and field edges highlighted by the low sunlight. I find that dark pines, skeletal trees, hedges and distant snow make fascinating subjects.
i like old and worn boats because of their fading, peeling paint, rusting fittings and stained surfaces which show the hard life of a working boat.I enjoy contrasting this with the elegant, streamlined shapes and contours.
Finally, my signture, 'A Sinc' will always be found in the lower right hand side of my works.
