Gordon Lochhead
Gordon Lochhead is a Scottish sculptor specialising in bronze and precious metals. Originally trained in Physics at the University of Essex, he later studied sculpture at Bath Academy of Art, where he developed his interest in bronze casting. He went on to established his own studio-foundry.
He has exhibited widely, in Scotland and England, also in Europe and Japan. And also made many pieces to commission for public art, corporate organisations, churches, the armed forces, sports, and private customers.
A Churchill Fellowship enabled further study of casting traditions in Japan, leading to his election to the Japanese Casting Artists Association, of which he remains the only Western member.
Lochhead’s abstract sculptures are informed by coastal landscapes, maritime structures and a lifelong engagement with the craft of metal casting.
